Description
The poster deals with the alignment of a transportable THz-ATR system for the analysis of hazardous liquids. By using an ATR prism, liquids with a high absorption coefficient, such as water, can be investigated. The system uses photoconductive antennas with a high bandwidth of up to 6 THz. The poster describes the alignment of the collimating lenses. Since the expected bandwidth was not achieved with the collimating lenses, the setup was optimized by replacing them with parabolic mirrors. This increased the maximum bandwidth to 3 THz. Further optimization of the focusing lenses and the prism improved the bandwidth of the system. To avoid water vapor absorption lines, an enclosure was built around the setup and nitrogen was supplied. A transportable THz-ATR setup was built and aligned, achieving a THz range up to 3 THz. A comparison with the literature values of Jepsen for the recorded water measurements in the terahertz range showed agreement within the margin of error.
